Welcome to the Mission Waco Mobilization Team’s new blog!! I am so happy you are here.

At Mission Waco | Mission World it is our sincere hope to equip YOU to become more compassionately involved with your neighbors experiencing poverty. There are so many barriers, so many reasons to stay in your own lane and choose convenience, safety, and comfort. But a life of comfort is not the life we are called to. A life of convenience and safety will simply never satisfy. To choose Jesus is to choose love. Although living a life of love sounds simple enough, the love we are called to is anything but easy. 

“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:16-18

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

A life of love costs us everything! What a humble and fierce love to give all that we have - our time, our treasure, our entire selves - to the Lord. And we know to love the Lord is to love the people who bear His image.

So what are you willing to give? What do you need to let go of to better love God and your neighbors? What act of love is God calling you to right now? 

Loving people will be messy. It will be hard. There will be days where it will feel like the world is just too broken to love in the way we are called to. On those days, let the brokenness of the world remind you of your own need for a Savior! We know how to love because he first loved us in our brokenness- Oh how amazing is His grace. Our love will not be perfect like our Lord’s, but what would it look like for us to keep showing up in the messy, hard, broken relationships? When you are tempted to stay in the comfort of the shallows, what would it look like to deeply love your neighbor by letting your neighbor love you right back?

I hope this blog is a space where we can ask the hard questions and grow in the Lord together!
